About Liz

Liz Garibaldi is a Long Beach-based artist, designer, creative director, and co-founder of Open Gallery.

Her creative practice moves between art, photography, typography, product design, and the building of spaces and projects that bring people together. She studied graphic design and typography at Cerritos College, where her work received first place in the Student Art Exhibition in 2014.

After working as a nurse for eight years, Liz left nursing in 2018 to focus on creative work full time. That same year, she founded La Sirena, an independent studio that has grown from apparel into a broader art and design practice.

Her work is influenced by her Mexican-American experience, Southern California, the ocean, music, nostalgia, florals, and everyday life. Alongside her own practice, Liz co-founded Open Gallery in Long Beach, where she works across creative direction, exhibitions, production, events, and artist projects.

La Sirena is where those parts of her practice come together: art, design, objects, experimentation, and the things she wants to put into the world.
